Aesthetic Notebook Covers Back to School Hack

It’s been another magical summer with the kids but I know I’m not alone with I say that I was counting down the days for them to be back to school! Getting back into a routine feels great after a summer of going hard! Especially for us Midwesterners, we pack a lot of action into these few short months and truly make so many memories of a lifetime! Once it’s time to go back to school shopping, I’ve made it a tradition to turn a stressful “chore” into a little date with my daughters. They associate the day with drinks and Lunchables at the Starbucks in Target, and not the annual melt down in the school supply isle when they can’t find aesthetic notebook covers that speak to them… 🙄 girls, haha! 😍

Back to School Supply Shopping

My girls (ages 10, and twin 7s) always get so frustrated that the “slay” composition notebooks are always college ruled. Then the moaning and groaning ensues. But this year, I noticed the composition notebooks had clear covers and a bell went of in my head!

I nipped the meltdown in the bud and promised them I’d help them design their own custom, aesthetic notebook covers. They see me using Canva all the time and love helping me make their birthday invitations so they happily agreed! We picked up these Five Star Customizable Cover Wide Ruled Composition Notebooks from Target.

Next, it was time for selecting their binders and again they didn’t find anything that matched their personalities so we grabbed a few white, clear cover binders and jetted for the register!

Printing the Aesthetic Notebook Covers

There are a few options for printing the aesthetic notebook covers. Obviously, if you have printer paper and a good printer and at home (with ink, ha!) that is the quickest option. Download the flyer as a .pdf “PDF Print” for best printing results. Also, include Crop Marks and Bleed to make it easier to cut out. Print on standard 8.5 x 11 in paper.

Otherwise, if you don’t have a printer available, another option is to upload it to a local Walgreens or FedEx Kinkos. They can typically print it out in an 8×10 inch size with a glossy, photo paper. Plus you can typically pick it up in as little as an hour! Walgreens will require you upload the image as a .png file instead.

Savings Tip: if you are using Walgreens, I have always found that they offer a coupon code online for all photo orders. Typically 50% off! Check out Retailmenot.com here.

Third, you can print directly via Canva. If you have a few days, with a couple clicks you you can order in a matte or gloss finish for a reasonable price and free delivery to your doorstep.

Finally, for best results, cut using a paper cutter and insert into their composition notebooks and binders!
