Why You Should Celebrate Every Chance You Get

Slow TF* Down!

Champagne popping is a great way to create a break in your routine. Find ways to mark your life’s special moments and don’t hesitate to pop a bottle at every chance you get! Since my husband and I were oh so young, and not so wise, we’ve been marking as many occasions by popping champagne as possible. Can’t say there was much romantic wisdom coming out of our early twenties, but that is one that I am thrilled stuck with us for at least the past sixteen+ years!

Champagne Popping Moments

Let’s be honest. A few of the most stressful moments in life are:

  • career change,
  • marriage,
  • baby, and
  • buying a home.

Notice, how these are also life’s most exciting moments, too!

Moments to Slow Down For

One could argue that every day you get to open your eyes is worth celebrating. But then you’d probably be an alcoholic, soooo maybe don’t do that! Maybe stick to meditating or a daily one-minute gratitude journal for that!

There are lot of other major achievements and small wins that should be celebrated along the way, too!

Here are some ideas worth clinking to:

  • raise or promotion at work,
  • anniversaries,
  • birthdays,
  • completion of a major project at work,
  • launching a new business,
  • hitting a personal health goal,
  • clean bill of health,
  • you quit your job,
  • last night in your home,
  • first night in your new home
  • finishing a renovation project,
  • gorgeous weather,
  • starting a sabbatical,
  • arriving on that much earned vacation,
  • a romantic getaway night away from the kids,
  • holidays,
  • new year’s resolutions,
  • birth of a child.

Next, it’s only appropriate to go over how and where you can implement these champagne popping moments.

Ways to Toast the Occasion

Depending on the celebration, it may make more sense to have a quiet, intimate moment with your husband. Where you celebrate however, is up to your imagination! You could:

  • Cook one of your favorite meals together at home
  • Get the heck out of the house (and your sweatpants!) and go out on a dinner date
  • Love live music? Splurge on VIP concert tickets
  • Plan a romantic getaway night away from the kids
  • Major goals or milestones are a great excuse to plan a bad ass vacation for just the two of you
  • Do you have any other fun ways to mark the occasion? I’d love to hear them in the comments!

Other times, life may not be so quiet. Kids are doing homework project, bickering, you’re driving them to gymnastics class and you just gotta pop that bottle and embrace the madness! Have a laugh about it together. One day, you’ll wish you could be celebrating life’s achievements and still have a house full of your crazy kids! Maybe attempt to put them to bed, before you sit down for a quiet dinner.

In some cases, it’s best to celebrate with family and friends. Holidays, housewarming, you name it. Throw a party! Here are some great ideas by @camillestyles on “Reasons to Have a Party”.

Here’s a last thought. Did your kids have to make sacrifices for you to achieve your goal? Did they move out of their first childhood home? Is it a festive family holiday or celebrating ringing in the new year? If so, consider buying them some sparkling grape juice to pour into some plastic flutes. A toast to celebrate achievements, appreciation or family love is something everyone should pause for. After all, our kids are sponges. If we celebrate life’s special moments, they will know no differently to carry these habits into their adulthood.

Write on Your Corks

My husband and I have been filling our cork holder for many years with special champagne and wine bottle moments. Bust out that Sharpie and mark the cork with the reason and date. Truthfully, you may never dump out the corks and look at them all, but I feel like the simple act of writing on them and saving them is an act of gratitude in itself.

Here’s me writing on one the day after we returned from a quick getaway:

My Most Recent Champagne Popping Moment

This month, I successfully launched this new blog, Memory in the Making. It’s special to me because it marks the beginning of a new chapter in my life.

I had shared this champagne bottle goals writing video, “Writing out my 2023 goals!” by @CurlVitality, with my husband fairly recently because I thought it was a cool idea. He loved the idea too! And when I told him my goal for launch date, the next day a bottle of Veuve Clicquot appeared on my desk. He wrote:

Champagne bottle with Memory in the Making blog launch day goal written on it from my husband

“Happy blog day babe 2/6/23 Love you, Joe”

Since he wrote my target date on there, it served as my extra motivation to put in long hours and achieve that arbitrary deadline.

On February 6th, at 5:30pm I pushed the ‘publish’ button. It certainly wasn’t perfect, but I did it! That day happened to be a crazy night in our house. With kids running amuck, we poured that champagne anyway and he grilled up a delicious tomahawk! I’ll never forget it.

Cork saved.

A Little About Me

Hi, I’m Leigh Anne! I am a wife and a mom of our three beautiful, funny and spunky daughters, Kailie (9), Zoe (6) and Reese (6). I recently stepped away from my 9 to 5 after having been a freight industry executive for 12 years, mostly overseeing marketing and technology. In my heart, I knew it was time for a change.

I find it a shame that as women we spend 40 hours a week planning and project managing in our careers and leave little time to do the same for our #1 priority, our families!

That’s why I created The 14 Fundamentals of Personal Project Management for creating fun, lifelong memories. I applied my corporate project management skills towards my priorities!

I used to work tirelessly to balance my career while still pushing myself to create fun memories with my family and friends. Except I realized that in burning the candle from both ends. I was leaving too little time for my health and wellbeing.

Check out my launch video here and visit my Memory in the Making website to learn more About Me to see why I’m passionate about making life memorable.

Why Not You?

Over the years, I’ve picked up quite a few tricks and worked out the challenges that come with planning and executing over-the-top memories. Many people frequently ask me how I pull off entertaining large groups with themed parties. Or think I’m a little crazy for how much time and effort I put into planning vacations and holiday activities for my kids. And sometimes even seemingly frustrated that my husband and I block the time to individually take our kids on dates, and dip away to make quality time with each other.

YOU CAN DO THIS, TOO! Perfection is NOT the goal.

I’d absolutely love to see my followers enjoying their champagne popping moments! Tag me on Instagram @meminthemaking!

Bringing the bubbly for all life’s special occasions!

If you’re going to pop the bubbly, you might as well do it like a pro! Twist and pull down, don’t break the chandelier or give someone a black eye! Check out this quick video by @mywellihousedecor about How to Open a Champagne Bottle Like a Pro.

And, oh! Speaking of champagne! Try out our family’s famous Espi’mosa recipe at your next brunch, just a simple twist on the classic mimosa and it’s a real crowd pleaser!

Champagne Accessories

Don’t let that expensive bottle of champagne go to waste. I didn’t realize until recently that there are champagne bottle stoppers too (not just wine bottle stoppers)! Here’s one that’s under $9. Check out it’s reviews. It’s a no brainer staple to have in the house. I put one in my husband’s Christmas stocking last year!

For your next weekend getaway with your husband, have a chilled bottle ready to pop once you arrive at your hotel room or vacation rental! Great way to set the mood for a great vacation!

Bonus: bring it with to a friend’s house for mimosas that are ready to pour. No one likes warm champagne!

I like this one in the Copper color; seems elegant and classic. Tons of other options that can be at your door tomorrow on Amazon, too of course!
