Burn Off That Easter Candy Energy!
If there’s one thing I love, it’s messing with and keeping my kids on their toes! Last Easter, I put these printable calisthenics in their plastic easter eggs. Grandparents, aunts and uncles spoil them with Easter baskets full of sugar, sugar, sugar! So instead of buying even more sugar to put in the Easter egg hunt, I did this instead! My 3 daughters and my niece and nephew were opening their eggs, like whaaaaat is going on?!
All the adults at Easter brunch were laughing their butts off and the kids were giggling as they were doing burpees, jumping jacks and bunny hops! They were wincing in anticipation as they cracked open the next egg, ohhh no what’s this one going to be?! I knew at that point, this would definitely be happening again next year. We all enjoyed it so much, I wanted to share it with you all. So here it is…
Easter Egg Hunt
I’m providing this freebie, printable Un’egg’spected Easter Egg Hunt in two versions. I’ll send you both.
The first, I have pre-printed intervals to make it super easy for you. However, if your kids are much younger or older and you’d like to adjust the intervals down or up, print out the blank version (without the intervals). For the second version, just hand write on each square the quantities. That leads me to my next tip, which I’m excited to be trying out this year!

For Families with Varying Kids’ Ages
Because I know you’ve experienced this. You open up the backdoor to have the kids run out to find their eggs and the big kids steal all of the easy-to-find ones from the littles, before they even know what’s going on! You have to holler at the bigger kids to put some back and go find the harder-to-find ones.
And so, I saw this idea to assign a different color Easter egg to each kid. Genius! Not only does it solve that problem but I think it brings a whole different element to the bigger kids’ strategy!
Of course, there are additional benefits, too. Such as, all of these calisthenics will be evenly distributed. Also, based on the physical abilities of each kid, you can customize the intervals they need to do.
To make this easier, here are some color coordinated baskets and eggs to assign each kid. Each freebie, printable Easter egg hunt has 25 squares so if you want to print one page for each kid, be sure to get a pack with 25 of each color Easter eggs.
Already have Easter baskets to reuse? Instead, opt for color coordinated grasses to differentiate their assigned colors. Collect these baskets and eggs back from all kids, so you can reuse for the following year.
More Tips for Your Easter Egg Hunt
I like to give the uncles, dads and grandpas the eggs to go hide in the backyard, while everyone’s arriving and enjoying their first mimosa before my Easter brunch buffet is set out. This is a super fun way to get the whole family involved and it’s one less thing I need to remember; where did I put those last 2 missing eggs? Lastly, don’t forget to have them count the eggs too before they hide them, so your dog doesn’t go Easter egg hunting the next day!

The Golden Egg Prize Ideas
It’s up to you, and likely dependent on if you opted to color coordinate eggs with each kid, whether or not you want to stuff 1 Golden Egg, or if each kid gets their own Golden Egg. Or, skip it entirely! If you do include it, here are some different ideas for prizes that take no preparation and a few that you’ll need to grab in advance! The Best Kind of Memories
Family holidays are such a wonderful excuse to bring everyone together, especially in a world where we’re all so busy-busy. Spring is my favorite season and hosting Easter brunch makes me so happy to brighten up the house after a long, dreary Chicagoland winter. Soon enough your kids will be too cool to hunt for Easter eggs.
This kind of quality family time is priceless. You will never get this magical time with your kids back. They’ll be grown in a blink!
